Look who's back?! Yes, it's been quite some time since I've posted here, and I do apologize for the almost 9 month hiatus. Life is unpredictable as they say, and boy is that true. Many changes have come about, but never did I completely forget about my dear Grey Chiffon. With that, here are a few looks that have me inspired these days. i love finding awesome new blogs to follow (who doesn't!) and the latest on my list is greige. i love the simple beauty of the site and all the beautiful inspiration it gives with interior design. but i always look forward to seeing the greige fairytale series the blog offers -- a collection of fashionable images representing one of my favorite hues...grey, of course.

i rarely post anything personal on this blog, in fact i believe this will be my first time...but i think this image belongs here as well....a detailed picture of my wedding reception dress...a grey dream!:)

i've been enjoying the summer months to the fullest, and i hope you have been too! that said, i have no real updates for today, except for posting these beautiful gowns by elie saab and marchesa. aren't they exquisite? i don't expect much less from these two designer labels, anyway.

this is such a pretty collection. i'd love to wear any of these dresses. there is something great to be said about each and every one of his pieces -- from the sexy senorita top/ruffled skirt combo, to the fully beaded & fully glam long sleeved ivory gown, to the bright hues of blue, pink and yellow he used, to feathers!, and finally to the all-out-ball-gown-style-oomph -- each dress was statement-making.

georgina chapman - 2011 oscars

ms. chapman was back in great form at the 2011 oscars this past sunday. i loved everything about her appearance this time (that's in comparison to her golden globes look, which i wrote about here.) it was a very couture-senorita look for me, complete with those lovely t-strap dancing shoes. the gown itself (marchesa, of course) was high- style, with the layers and ruffles of black gathered together at one side, asymmetrical hem, the sheer type of fabric, and the pink rosettes piercing the whole thing with romance. also loved her slicked back hair, and minimal jewelry. beauty!

marchesa (finally!) @ NYFW fall 2011

i've been waiting and waiting to see marchesa's collection, and it's finally up on style.com today. and as usual, it was gorgeous....with glamour, glitz, and all-out girl power.

there was tulle, there was lace, there were drapes, and there were corsets...all combined with lots of "sheer" pleasure.

so very beautiful, romantic, and princess-like. for me, marchesa is "pretty" defined.

georgina chapman - golden globes '11

"damn," is what i first thought when i saw georgina chapman's look for the 2011 golden globes. and that's not a "damn, she looks good" reaction (which is my usual response for her), that's a "damn, what happened?" reaction! designer to the stars, georgina chapman, of the ultra-glamorous brand marchesa, is really, really beautiful. she also designs amazing dresses, which look even more amazing when she wears them. i love her style, and even though sometimes it's a bit too girly/ruffley for me, it's always sharp and on point. so you can imagine my surprise when i saw her choice for the big awards show held this past sunday. i specially googled her to see her look (she is not usually covered by most fashion talk shows/blogs) hoping to see a vision of beauty, but i was let-down.

now, let me preface my critique by saying that she still looks a thousand times better than some of the other stars out there, but if she is in competition with herself, she lost big-time. the dress is basic, maybe a bit too basic for an awards show, and it's hanging waaay too low on her. basic black pumps and a black clutch finish it. so i must ask, where's her pizazz-y accessory? i love doing all black, but even i know that you have to add at least one element of spunk. and she usually does this the best. the only noteworthy thing about her look is that necklace. very nice and very edgy. but it wasn't enough.

gosh, i am being so passionate about ms. chapman! i suppose i just count on her for fashion-drooling purposes, and that didn't happen this time. here's hoping her next appearance will drop us dead.

while keeping it simple is always a hit, sometimes you've just got to have a little fun. and nothing says fun like mixing polka dots with leopard print. it's the unusual that keeps things interesting and exciting.

hands down.

this look, from the 2008 oscars i believe, is still so memorable for me. cruz looks absolutely divine! the gown is pure glamour...draping, feathers, a slight train...it has it all. also loved the pulled back, voluminous hair, and those beautiful drop down earrings. there have been many noteworthy oscar fashion moments since this one, but this particular look will always be remembered.

i don't think the h&m jimmy choo line has hit stores near me yet...but i would so like these 3 pieces as soon as it does. they scream fierce.

**update: looks like these lbds will forever remain on my wishlist. according to assata r. of shopassatasays.com, the h&m jimmy choo line released nov. 14 in the d.c. area and was sold out within a week. so sad to have missed the chance to buy these three pieces. if you're interested in other pieces from the line, check out shopassatasays.com. she's got a few goodies still available on her site. thanks again for the tip!

finally an update + rtr

i am back in posting mode after nearly two months of being idle with my precious grey chiffon. lots of things have been happening my way, including excitement about a new dress-lovers shopping website called rent the runway. this netflix-style site allows you to rent a designer dress at 10% of its retail price and then return it with the handy pre-paid packaging that comes along with the delivery. sounds like a great idea, doesn't it? i haven't tried "renting the runway" just yet, but with the holiday season in full effect, i may be tempted to do so very soon. above are a few of my favorite picks available on rtr.
