high-tops

i like this sporty/stylish look - just a plain outfit with some high top sneaks and you're done - comfortable and very cool.

sketches by inslee haynes

how amazing are these illustrations by artist inslee haynes?! i spotted one of her sketches yesterday on the blog la dolce vita, and went on from there to view more of her work. i was so in love with all her illustrations - especially the ones revolving around stylish ladies going about their day-to-day activities. even lounging around seems like such a fashionable thing to do through the eyes of this talented artist.

another beautiful kate at her wedding

i'm talking about the great kate moss, who looked just as stunning, in a completely different way than our favorite royal, kate middleton. love the soft, romantic and bohemian feel to miss moss' bridal look.

check out all the photos from her wedding at fashionista.com.

naeem khan resort 2012

this is such a pretty collection. i'd love to wear any of these dresses. there is something great to be said about each and every one of his pieces -- from the sexy senorita top/ruffled skirt combo, to the fully beaded & fully glam long sleeved ivory gown, to the bright hues of blue, pink and yellow he used, to feathers!, and finally to the all-out-ball-gown-style-oomph -- each dress was statement-making.

on my mind now

it's been a rather "blah" tuesday, so what else can lift up those spirits than a few glamorous images? these gorgeous items -- from the arrangement of peonies, to the "edgy" nude heel, to the ornately chic office space -- add a serious jolt of glamour to the everyday. i especially love those peonies -- so sweet, so full of life, and so summery.

celeb style, lately

hello to all my readers! as i mentioned in my previous post, summer time is officially here and that means more relaxation by the pool, more al fresco dining, and generally more enjoyable moments. i hope you all have been enjoying the sunshine as well. but the time has come for an update and i've got some major catching up to do. i did mention a few posts ago that i'd report on my fashion favorites from the 2011 met ball, and that i'd also keep up with coverage from the 2011 cannes film festival. well both events have gone and passed us by (the met ball seems like it was decades ago!) and i'm late in getting my favorites up and published. but fret not, that's what this update is for. i've put together just one favorite from each event, including the recent cdfa fashion awards 2011. these looks are so perfect in every way -- from the hair, to the makeup, to the dress itself -- it makes me look forward to the summer soirees and weddings coming up....oh to be a girl :)

from one of the biggest nights in fashion, the 2011 met ball, this look was definitely one of my favorites. it wasn't too envelope-pushing, it wasn't all high-fashion-couture -- it was just really pretty. and that's the best. ashley greene looked so soft and lovely -- just how i'd imagine her to be in real life.

at cannes, there was glamour glamour everywhere. from bianca balti to indian actress sonam kapoor, there was beauty and style aplenty. however, the one to really up the ante was none other than angelina jolie. she stood out the most (as she tends to do!) in her chocolate brown strapless dress. she looked so glamorous yet so completely effortless. i love her.

and finally, at the 2011 cdfa fashion awards, i'd have to go with karolina kurkova for workin' it high fashion style. she's a great model, so who else could pull off this look better? it was chill, it was sexy, it was sparkly, it was sporty -- it was everything fashion likes -- in one.

ski style

going on a skiing trip this weekend, so of course, i was surfing around the web for stylish & functional outfits to wear on the slopes. i'm still sort of lost, and going to just layer everything i own onto myself, but it's fun to look and be inspired by these images. turns out, victoria beckham looks the "posh"-est of them all, with her variety of ski looks.

also have to include the always stylish kate moss, in her glam ski bunny attire -- complete with a luxurious fur hat and big bold hollywood shades.

keep it simple, stupid

isn't it interesting how this small phrase applies to so many things in life? :) including fashion -- but of course!

long skirt trend

i've been seeing this trend here and there, and i must say, i'm liking it a lot! i haven't seen long skirts done in the winter for a very long time, so it's a revival of sorts...but in a fun and modern way. it's most appealing to me when done monochromatically, as michael kors did in his fall 2010 rtw show. tone on tone with a cool, easy, hip-slung belt and you've got a look that's incredibly chic.

sabyasachi couture 2010

just now getting a look at all the images from the 2010 sabyasachi couture show, and all i have to say is "wow." besides the amazing mix of patterns and prints on exquisite fabrics, take a look at all that layering...especially in the 2nd image. for starters, you've got a long kurta (tunic) with floral designs and paisley-looking motifs combined together. then, long, patterned net sleeves give it some air and freshness, while a small heavily embroidered vest gives the look a fun vibe. not to mention, i think i see some hints of velvet on the bottom border of the kurta, as well. and we're only at the top portion of the entire outfit so far. sabyasachi has placed this kurta with a lightly patterned full a-line skirt, printed churidar (leggings) beneath, and a long chunni (scarf) beautifully draped on one shoulder.

there are so many elements to this one outfit, but somehow they all go together with such ease and beauty. oh, and check out those very much on-trend platform oxford booties...quite the unexpected with an outfit like this!

i have always loved sabyasachi, but this collection was brilliant. it might not translate as well in real life, but it just shows how well of a mix-master, genius designer he is. the whole look -- in its earthy colors, absence of bling, and even zero makeup, still manages to look far more royal than any other crystallized in-your-face outfit normally seen and expected from indian designers. looking forward to seeing these pieces in some great editorials. (aishwarya rai is already featured one such editorial, by HiBlitz magazine. check the pictures on high heel confidential.)
