georgina chapman, revisited

have not posted in quite some time about one of my favorite style stars, georgina chapman. she's now post-baby and looking just as fab as ever - from dressing down a sexy look with a jean jacket, to going full-out glam in a tea-length dress.

stripes

i am really into stripes these days -- they are so eye-catching. it's a very bold and dramatic look, both in fashion and interior design, but still has that element of whimsy and fun. i would love to paint some of my walls in black and white stripes, but for now, i think i'll stick to buying a few striped pillows. that should satisfy my cravings. as far as fashion is concerned, there are plenty of options available -- dresses, skirts, blouses, scarves, etc. however, i'm leaning towards a blouse, to wear with black skinnies...for that elegant-parisian-chic look. so many great ways to have fun with stripes.

shoes + more at NY fashion week, fall 2011

the shows and the new designs at any fashion week are, of course, the real stars, but the editors shine pretty bright, too. especially their shoes! imagine eye-catching footwear to get to and from the shows...it would definitely put an extra pep in my step.

but back to the shows -- i've been browsing through the collections on style.com, and i have many loves & likes. lots of cozy-furry-layering happening, which really makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. it looks so good and is perfect for fall. hope you're enjoying seeing all the looks from NY fashion week, fall 2011, as much as me.

after all the madness calms, and all the coverage is done, we'll get to see what the strongest trends were...and how they are interpreted by some great style-setters.

that's when the real fun begins!

ski style

going on a skiing trip this weekend, so of course, i was surfing around the web for stylish & functional outfits to wear on the slopes. i'm still sort of lost, and going to just layer everything i own onto myself, but it's fun to look and be inspired by these images. turns out, victoria beckham looks the "posh"-est of them all, with her variety of ski looks.

also have to include the always stylish kate moss, in her glam ski bunny attire -- complete with a luxurious fur hat and big bold hollywood shades.

airport style

i dont know about you, but checking out folks at an airport is one of the best people watching experiences. there's so much waiting and waiting, so what else is there to do? i love seeing how people dress for flights --blending in comfort with fashion. some can manage to look so very chic. i think the best formula is comfortable leggings or skinny jeans, a good pair of flats (maybe ballet flats in the summer and tall flat boots in winter), tops and jackets that are easily layered, and of course a scarf -- so necessary. how great do our very own celebrities jessica alba, penelope cruz, and gisele bundchen look?

the best in grey - spring '11

unfortunately, i skipped my "the best in grey winter '10-'11" edition, but no worries because the promise and hope and flowers of spring can fix that mistake... :)

this past winter season had some really great grey pieces, though, from coats to scarves to boots. i was loving how grey suddenly became so luxe with added sparkle (sequins on sweaters), fun fabrics (flannel pumps) and fur galore (on vests, gloves, hats, scarves...and that's faux or real...whatever floated your boat).

but for now, we're moving onto spring, and i am of course loving some of the pieces i've seen so far. luxe grey is still going strong, but it is enhanced with some light and flowy pieces -- which add a breath of fresh air.

happy 2011

a bit late, but nonethless, happy new year to you all. as usual, i've been slow with updates, but of course, as all of us bloggers do every year, i've also made a resolution to blog more often. we'll see how that pans out, but for now, i'd like to start off the new year with this stunning photograph from who else but the sartorialist. it's hard to pick a favorite from his line of work, but this one might be close. i love it! the all black with a touch of color, the biker chic gloves, the faux fur giving a touch of luxury, and of course that laid back easy breezy attitude is just wow.

happy 2011 again.

holiday dressing - red

the holidays are, of course, bright and festive, so nothing beats a happy & merry red dress during these times. and when the jolly ol' hue is teamed with lace or an interesting shape...it is sure to be a gleeful knock-out.

steel the show

my love for grey doesn't stop with apparel and accessories...it extends to beauty products as well, with a darker, steely, metal shade of grey being my current favorite for eyes and nails. there is nothing beautiful or sensual about this color, but that's what makes it so exciting in beauty...it makes a statement without making a statement.

black swan

halloween has already gone and passed us by, but i'm still in that dark, enchanted state of mind thanks to an upcoming thriller movie, whose look and feel happened to inspire my makeup for my halloween costume. of course, my makeup attempts were very amateur compared to this image, but it was fun trying it out :)

look at those eyes -- this will be a thriller for sure!

yes, i was a black swan for halloween, choosing it without knowing that natalie portman will soon be starring in a pyschological, dark film by the same name. the movie looks like it is going to be one fun ride -- the suspense, the drama, the acting...and of course, the costumes.

rodarte has designed for this movie and they couldn't be a more perfect fit. the gothic, edgy style of rodarte and their mastery over showstopping, theatrical-like looks will be a treat to watch. i cannot wait to see their work in the ballet scenes of black swan.
