Magazine Pages as Art

I saw a great post the other day on the blog A Cup of Jo about framing Magazine pages for easy and gorgeous artwork. I really love this idea and will be going for it this weekend. There's so many wonderful images in just one magazine - from the eye-catching ads to the wonderfully thought-out editorials...all can make for great and fashionable artwork.

I'll have to go through my saved magazines to find which images I like best, but here are some magazine ads/editorials I saw online that I think would look amazing when framed.

What do you think? Would you like this style of artwork for your home?

sketches by inslee haynes

how amazing are these illustrations by artist inslee haynes?! i spotted one of her sketches yesterday on the blog la dolce vita, and went on from there to view more of her work. i was so in love with all her illustrations - especially the ones revolving around stylish ladies going about their day-to-day activities. even lounging around seems like such a fashionable thing to do through the eyes of this talented artist.

etsy finds for your home

everyone loves etsy -- i'm definitely in the fan club, as well. who doesn't adore original, unique pieces that are high style and low on price? here are some of my favorite things on etsy right now

vintage chalkboards -- such a chic way to write little notes, and doubles as a beautiful wall hanging as well.

antlers -- i started to like the look of antlers after a recent trip to aspen, colorado, where these babies were used heavily in the decor. i might paint these in black, to go with the rest of my decor.

michaelangelo statue - what to say except this is big bad and bold. a statement piece, for sure.

inner beauty out

having your dna enlarged and framed hardly conjures up a visually pleasing image, but at dna11.com, your repeating nucleotides can indeed be transformed into an interesting piece of art for all to enjoy.

after sending in a sample of your dna using their collection kit (simply by swabbing the inside of your cheek) the artists and scientists at dna11.com create your personalized artwork. with a large range of color, style, framing, and size options to choose from, your final product will be unique in more ways than one. finger and kiss portraits are fun options to choose from, too.

i know i can't wait to display my inner beauty by way of this novel and creative concept. dna11.com has had much success and i have no doubt that success will continue.

little works of art

love in d.c.

cherry blossom season may long be over, but i'm still living in it through these adorable prints from art shark designs, made by local dc artist megan nolton. featured on dailycandy d.c., these little works of art just exude sweet charm and romance. i clicked through nolton's etsy shop as well, and it is full of lovely prints, notecards, and moleskin journals. go check it out! they are perfect little gifts of love.

here are more of nolton's equally cute designs:

mary mcfadden : goddesses

from washingtonpost.com –

"michelle obama isn't the only one bringing fashion to washington. the national museum of women in the arts will showcase the
works of fashion designer mary mcfadden, who has more than 100 collections to her name. the exhibition explores the inspiration mcfadden drew from a slew of ancient cultures, including greece, dynastic china and africa. (march 20-aug. 30)"

extremely thrilled to view this exhibition, as mcfadden's works are described to be a true collaboration of style and culture – giving credibility to the term “fashion is art.”
