carlos miele spring 2009

easy elegance by means of delicate chiffon gowns in beautiful washes of color and print were presented in this collection. the few, if any, adornments to these dresses included simple jewels or sublte embroidery that slightly enhanced the overall breezy feel of the show.

marchesa spring 2009

yesterday, style.com posted marchesa’s spring 2009 collection, and as usual, it was a hit for me. as i mentioned in a previous post, marchesa collections are always grace and glamour combined. their spring 09 pieces were no different, except that they went above and beyond any expectation i had by offering magical, fairytale-like dresses that epitomized their glamour and grace aesthetic. rounding out the collection were short, mini dresses that packed just as much design detail as the evening gowns did. some of them had edgy, tough details, giving the romantic fabrics and draping a new look. the collection also featured an exqusitie one shouldered black lace gown - a personal favorite of mine.

everyone has been talking about lace since seeing it used in prada’s fall 2008 collection, and marchesa did its part in bringing lace back with this dress. it’s romantic yet tough and gothic yet princess-like. it perfectly represents the appeal of the yin & yang, and its staying power in the world of fashion.

many designers have featured this opposties attract concept in their collections at new york fashion week so far, but for now, back to marchesa and their exceptionally glamorous looks…

love affair

i love pretty fonts. i used to doodle with text all day in class when i was younger, trying to dot my “i’s” in fancy ways or make my “y’s” curve down in the most beautiful fashion. so as you can imagine, viewing different typefaces online is a real hobby of mine. veer.com is a great place for this, with billions of typefaces to browse through. my current favorite on their site is a font called ”affair,” which veer.com describes as, “affair. it’s an event and you’re invited. affair is an extraordinary new calligraphic typeface by alejandro paul with a party full of swash characters, ligatures, and ornaments.” lovely!

greg natale interiors

i am in love with these interiors featured on desire to inspire today. designed by greg natale, these rooms/spaces are works of art. the colors, the patterns, the beautiful flourishes…i could go on and on. i love that it’s glamorous and elegant with some very daring twists -- like the loud, graphic black & white rug or the unexpected pops of red in the pillows and chairs. it’s not something i would normally lean towards -- i prefer a more traditional look with a few eclectic finishes - but i couldn’t take my eyes off of it. it’s bold and it’s out there, and again, i love it.

ines di santo

this beautifully styled ad campaign by the team of ines di santo, haute couture bridal designer, features one of the most breathtaking wedding gowns i’ve seen. within the pages of the latest grace ormonde wedding style magazine, which has swoon-worthy editorials ranging from lavish reception table designs to racy lingerie fashions, this gown is a part of ines di santo’s 2008 bridal collection. the collection is classic, elegant, and traditional, with a very fashionable and fun twist — perfect for today’s modern bride.

david yurman fall 2008

picked up the latest vogue, and abosolutely loved david yurman's fall 08 ad campaign featuring kate moss. it's without say that all of his ads are gorgeous - done with minimalist styling to enhance the beauty of his heavy and chunky jewels - but this one especially caught my eye.

goddress

just now getting a look at the resort 2009 collection by marchesa. georgina chapman and keren craig, the designers behind marchesa, create elegant, feminine and goddess-like gowns season after season. they did it again this time with their signature style of drapes and pleats adorned with heavy and elaborate embroidery. the simple color palette of the collection only enhanced the stunning details of each gown. as always, marchesa collections are glamour and grace combined.

italian interiors designer roberto vertura makes the most unique and attention grabbing furniture i’ve seen. with rich, bright colors, interesting shapes, and black and gold detailing, vertura’s lavish designs are nothing short of royal.
