hands in interior design

i think i've talked about how much i love kelly wearstler, and if not, well then here it is-- i love kelly wearstler! she's such an amazing interior designer that sometimes i wonder how it's possible for one person to have all that creativity. her works are very artistic and bold, and just plain ol' cool to look at. so i know i'm not the only one who's happy to see she has a blog of her own now. it's fun to see ideas and musings direct from her, and frequently from her. she recently wrote about the use of hands in her works, and how she finds them inspring. i coulnd't agree more -- check out these pieces to see just how interesting hands can look.

this collection was "very spring." the color palette was easy & breezy -- whites, pale greens, aquas, and beiges. overall, pretty.

kareena kapoor style in kurbaan

just got a chance to watch kurbaan, a fairly recent bollywood movie. i thought the movie was very well-done, but i also admired the styling within the film. kurbaan's leading actress, kareena kapoor, sports a unique east-meets-west look, with a plain cotton top, full crinkled ethnic skirt, chudidar pants (aka long leggings), and a scarf. it's a very different look than what we've seen in bollywood before, and i must say i'm loving it. it's very casual, ethnic, and pretty....as well as quite comfortable looking.

etsy finds for your home

everyone loves etsy -- i'm definitely in the fan club, as well. who doesn't adore original, unique pieces that are high style and low on price? here are some of my favorite things on etsy right now

vintage chalkboards -- such a chic way to write little notes, and doubles as a beautiful wall hanging as well.

antlers -- i started to like the look of antlers after a recent trip to aspen, colorado, where these babies were used heavily in the decor. i might paint these in black, to go with the rest of my decor.

michaelangelo statue - what to say except this is big bad and bold. a statement piece, for sure.

stripes

i am really into stripes these days -- they are so eye-catching. it's a very bold and dramatic look, both in fashion and interior design, but still has that element of whimsy and fun. i would love to paint some of my walls in black and white stripes, but for now, i think i'll stick to buying a few striped pillows. that should satisfy my cravings. as far as fashion is concerned, there are plenty of options available -- dresses, skirts, blouses, scarves, etc. however, i'm leaning towards a blouse, to wear with black skinnies...for that elegant-parisian-chic look. so many great ways to have fun with stripes.
