really enjoyed looking through the website of photographer julia pogodina. loved all the images i saw...especially the motion shots. i also thought each and every image had great interest and depth to it. made for a fun browsing session during some down time today. check out her work at http://www.nymfea.com/.
this look, from the 2008 oscars i believe, is still so memorable for me. cruz looks absolutely divine! the gown is pure glamour...draping, feathers, a slight train...it has it all. also loved the pulled back, voluminous hair, and those beautiful drop down earrings. there have been many noteworthy oscar fashion moments since this one, but this particular look will always be remembered.
experiencing a "historical snowstorm" in the d.c. area this weekend. there go all my shopping plans! i am nowhere close to being done. oh well...i guess i'll just have to be all cozy and lazy today... :)
can't help but love the look of capes this winter season...it seems so original to wrap yourself in this roomy and relaxed cover-up amongst all the structured and fitted jackets we've been used to seeing.
(i still love me a good bold-shouldered, sharp blazer, though.)
i don't think the h&m jimmy choo line has hit stores near me yet...but i would so like these 3 pieces as soon as it does. they scream fierce.
**update: looks like these lbds will forever remain on my wishlist. according to assata r. of shopassatasays.com, the h&m jimmy choo line released nov. 14 in the d.c. area and was sold out within a week. so sad to have missed the chance to buy these three pieces. if you're interested in other pieces from the line, check out shopassatasays.com. she's got a few goodies still available on her site. thanks again for the tip!
i am back in posting mode after nearly two months of being idle with my precious grey chiffon. lots of things have been happening my way, including excitement about a new dress-lovers shopping website called rent the runway. this netflix-style site allows you to rent a designer dress at 10% of its retail price and then return it with the handy pre-paid packaging that comes along with the delivery. sounds like a great idea, doesn't it? i haven't tried "renting the runway" just yet, but with the holiday season in full effect, i may be tempted to do so very soon. above are a few of my favorite picks available on rtr.
viewing all the collections from lakme india fashion week has me thinking of and remembering gorgeous india...especially my visit to the city of jaipur, somewhere i had never been prior to my last trip.
jaipur, once the capital of royalty, is the capital state of rajasthan. the rich history of the city cannot be experienced in just one trip...and once you add in all of the city's little charms, it is impossible to not want to visit there again and again.
among all the old palace ruins and pink-hued buildings, are vibrant street bazaars lined with exquisite fabrics and glittering bangles...and close to grand hotels with expansive gardens and five-star dining is chokhi dhani...a place designed to give you the experience of being in a real rajasthani village. the city is simultaneously haunting and lively.
jaipur was in all short, but wonderful, trip. i hope to return soon!
soft & romantic, neutral & shy colors, easy-flowing silhouettes...but strong drama in the details. j.mendel gowns command attention without making much noise.
gorgeous designs from vikram phadnis during the spring 2010 lakme india fashion week. it was a very opulent, royal, and traditional collection. especially loved all the layering i saw. each piece had this over-the-top grandeur but still remained very elegant. i always admire how designers combine a variety of fierce colors, fabrics, prints, and embroideries into one cohesive and graceful ensemble. the entire collection was very imperial india...going "back to an era of resplendent royalty not seen in India for centuries"....as a fashion editor put it. my favorite, though? the pairing of trendy gold gladiator sandals with a traditional churidar suit...as you will see in the second pic below. it showed just the right hint of modern spunk to go along with this very timeless & luxurious collection.
slowly starting to embrace the crisp, invigorating fall air
converting statement necklaces on bare skin to statement neck-warmth with cozy scarves.... leather leggings, leather jackets, and leather boots, oh my...pumpkin spice lattes galore...and of course, football sunday mania....
